學語言最重要的是環境，因此補習班英文老師推薦我去NorthDakota的Minot。這所語言學校附設於州立大內，他告訴我那邊華人很少，非常適合像我這種英文極差的人。剛開始沒幾天，一直再偷尋找是否有講中文的人，畢竟人生地不熟，我英文很破，根本不太懂大家在講什麼，相當無助。後來發現只有兩個中國人，一個台灣人都沒有，但也讓我的英文快速進步。雖然這裡很偏僻，但卻是學英文的好地方。

TLC裡的老師人都很友善親切，有任何問題不管是課堂內或外，她們都願意幫你解決。她們會在課堂上問問題，就是希望學生能開口，我的經驗是「說」是最困難的。一個星期上五天課，每天上五小時左右，星期五則是三個小時，聽說讀寫都用英文也用思考，不知覺英文就進步很多。老實說，一開始我以為語言學校都很自由，翹課也行，沒想到TLC一點都不，還蠻嚴格的，她們是真心希望學生的英文能變好，所以我真的學到很多。TLC還會舉辦一些課餘活動，例如：溜冰、滑雪橇、滑雪橇、打保齡球等，排除了很多課業壓力，也在每星期都會安排載學生去去Wal-Mart或是Mall買個人需要的用品。

我選擇住學校宿舍，因為可以認識大學生還有參與舉辦的活動可以認識大學生還有參與舉辦的活動。我房間對面住一個加拿大女孩，她是曲棍球員，一開始我們交談不多，無法溝通，漸漸的我們可以聊天，她甚至開車載我去看學校的曲棍球比賽。而同個樓層我也認識來自法國和西班牙的女孩們，我們會一起吃早餐，還會一起出去外面跟雪地拍照。我的室友則是韓國人，同時也是我同班同學，因為她我認識了校園裡全部的韓國人，我們也會互相幫忙。Minot就像我第二個家，不管是朋友們，老師們，大家都很好棒，我真的很想念大家。

The environment is important for learning a second language. My English teacher, who lives in Taiwan, introduced me to Minot to learn English.
He said Minot is a good place to learn English because nobody is Taiwanese. Even though I met two students from China, I didn’t get to speak much Chinese and was forced to adapt to English quickly. I felt I have made great progress in my English. A friend told me that we couldn’t communicate the first time we met, but now we can talk about anything.

The teachers in TLC are nice and friendly. They ask questions and let me answer in the class. Speaking English regularly really improved my knowledge of it. I remember when I came to the first class, I felt helpless. I couldn’t understand what the teachers were saying. After much practice, my English is getting better. TLC has some activities after the class or weekends, such as sledding, skating, and bowling. I had a good experience for Thanksgiving Day. TLC had an activity in Lisa’s house, and she made a lot of food for TLC students. It was so delicious, especially the turkey. I hope I can eat this food again. Every week TLC also takes us to go to Wal-Mart or Dakota Square Mall to buy things we want or need. The ice cream named Haagen-Dazs is cheaper than Taiwan, and I wish I could have taken more to Taiwan.

I chose to live in the dorm because I thought I could meet many American students. My neighbor is a Canadian and a busy hockey player. She took me to watch a hockey game which was exciting. As well, I met two girls on my floor from France and Spain. I promised them that I will go to France and Spain to visit them someday. My roommate was a TLC student from Korea. We helped each other a lot. I met many friends in Minot and I miss them very much.
